A corner of a dining room decorative ceiling in a Victorian Rhode Island residence had lost keying and fallen to the floor. We were able to repair the damage and replace the destroyed moldings through a combination of procedures. First we replaced the flat base of the ceiling with double layers of sheetrock to achieve the same level as the original ceiling. Replication of the molding required fabrication of a mold and re casting of the missing sections from plaster of Paris. Extra care was required for a curved corner section, which had shattered on impact.
The completed sections were then screwed into place and glued with panel adhesive. After several applications of compound the completed ceiling was painted with a matching off white paint completing this invisible repair.
